The Dominion Energy Charity Classic, the first event of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs on PGA TOUR Champions will take place at The Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
Current Charles Schwab Cup leader Ernie Els headlines the tournament with six PGA TOUR Champions victories and three wins this season. Vijay Singh, a five-time PGA TOUR Champions winner, joins the field with five top-10 finishes in the current season. Last season's Charles Schwab Cup runner-up, Steven Alker, is also participating. Other notable players in the field include Justin Leonard, who has three top-10 finishes this season, David Toms, a four-time PGA TOUR Champions winner with four top-10 placements in the current season and Bernhard Langer, who owns the PGA TOUR Champions win record.
The Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs are a three-tournament series used to determine the winner of the 2024 Charles Schwab Cup. The top 72 players on the Charles Schwab Cup Points List at the end of the regular season, which concludes at the SAS Championship, advanced to the Dominion Energy Charity Classic for the first Playoffs event. The top 54 players on the Charles Schwab Cup Points List after the Dominion Energy Charity Classic will advance to the second Playoffs event, the Simmons Bank Championship, and the top 36 players on the Charles Schwab Cup Points List after the Simmons Bank Championship will advance to the third and final Playoffs event, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
