Steve Stricker dials in No. 10 approach to 4 feet at John Deere
NOTES: Age as of Oct. 4, 2018 | An asterisk beside a salary indicates a bargain.
Rank | Player | Age | 2017-18 earnings | Status | Comment |
| Seamus Power | 31 | 791K | Top 125. | Talk about a bubble boy. He slotted between 115th and 130th in FedExCup points for the last six months and was the last man in the Playoffs. Invest in the good putter for his total starts north of the reshuffle. |
| Martin Kaymer | 33 | 115K* | Multi-year. | Made only 11 starts as a member in 2017-18, but he's fully exempt one more time due to medical approval after missing time with an injured right wrist. When healthy, he's potent. Plan on 16-19 starts. |
| Carlos Ortiz | 27 | 20K* | Web Finals. | Thrice a winner on the Web in 2014 when guys like Justin Thomas, Adam Hadwin and Tony Finau were competing against him. Ortiz is now more polished and consistent with his irons and putter. |
| Jonas Blixt | 34 | 368K* | Multi-year. | Rebound candidate. His last top 10 on TOUR is the reason he's fully exempt in 2018-19 – team win (with Cameron Smith) in New Orleans in 2017. Touched seven figures in earnings in five of his first six seasons. |
| Eddie Pepperell | 27 | 348K | OWGR Top 50. | Non-member. Wiggled into this ranking with a T2 in Portugal. The introspective Englishman has six PGA TOUR starts over four seasons, but he's poised to double that and more in 2018-19. |
| K.H. Lee | 27 | 23K* | Rookie. Web Finals. | At fifth in Web earnings, highest among non-winners in 2018. Finished T2 thrice and added a T3. Solid iron player. No shortage of motivation by fellow South Koreans on the PGA TOUR. |
| Chase Wright | 29 | -- | Rookie. Web Finals. | Representing Indiana University, he gets through on his fourth try and with style with a win and another three top fives. Balanced throughout his bag. Profiles strongly as a sleeper. |
| Michael Thompson | 33 | 563K | Web Finals. | Sat out entire month of June but returned to a busy schedule. Has two starts via a Minor Medical to earn 96.977 FedExCup points. Finished 142-148th in points in each of last four seasons. |
| Adam Svensson | 24 | -- | Rookie. Web Finals. | He's been trending toward this promotion since becoming a fixture on the Web in 2016. His experience defies his age and he'll have cachet with some of your opposition, but don't rush him. |
| Wyndham Clark | 24 | 68K* | Rookie. Web Finals. | Inspirational talent as the Pac-12 Conference champ in his only year at Oregon after losing his mom to breast cancer while he was at Oklahoma State. Remain patient but he'll find his way. |
| Corey Conners | 26 | 728K | Conditional. | Sets up as a potential surprise as a non-winner in his category to get to the Playoffs à la Trey Mullinax and J.T. Poston in 2017-18. Confident and smart ball-striker with a pedigree. |
| Ben Silverman | 30 | 793K | Web Finals. | A T3 at the Web.com Tour Championship lifted him from conditional status for 2018-19. Made some noise as a rookie so he's a sleeper coming back. Accurate off the tee and a good putter. |
| Steve Stricker | 51 | 582K | Career earnings exemption (top 25). | Now that he's a force with which to be reckoned on the PGA TOUR Champions, he's shifted into a role as a bonus for weekly leaguers when he appears on the PGA TOUR. |
| Fabián Gómez | 39 | 437K | Web Finals. | One of the best examples of a guy who eschewed playing time on conditional status (in 2013-14) to regain fully exempt status via the Web. Now entering his fifth straight season on TOUR with it. |
| Mackenzie Hughes | 27 | 518K* | Multi-year. | Finally gained some traction after nine months without it. Late surge yielded optimism entering his third season for which he's fully exempt due to his win at The RSM Classic early in the 2016-17 season. |
| Chris Stroud | 36 | 565K | Multi-year. | Banged up a bit in 2017-18 but fully exempt as the 2017 Barracuda champ. Because he contends rarely even when healthy, he's best used a complementary investment for DFSers. |
| Josh Teater | 39 | 40K* | Web Finals. | Fully exempt for the first time in five seasons thanks to a pair of runner-up finishes. It'll be curious if/how much course experience will matter despite 102 career cuts made on TOUR. Crisp iron player. |
| Kramer Hickok | 26 | -- | Rookie. Web Finals. | Jordan Spieth's former college teammate and tenant validated a solid season with a victory in the Finals. Hickok is a worker and it won't hurt to have his buddy's brain to pick. |
| Matt Jones | 38 | 538K | Web Finals. | Just outside the top 150 in FedExCup points in the last two seasons, so past-prime age, success and dedication to family can't be ruled out as factors for the fade. |
| Chad Campbell | 44 | 801K | Conditional. | Sustained fully exempt status after burning a career earnings exemption in 2014-15 until falling just short last season. Will still have deep value but Father Time is beginning to win the arm wrestle. |
| Robert Streb | 31 | 411K | Web Finals. | Won the opener of the Finals, but didn't factor the rest of the way. Loves himself some The Old White TPC, but that course isn't on the 2018-19 schedule. Worth a look in the fall given opening position. |
| Johnson Wagner | 38 | 656K | Conditional. | Finally recorded his first top 25 at Quail Hollow where he's a member. No stranger to this category and this veteran ball-striker will surprise at times. Underrated putter as well. |
| Adam Long | 31 | -- | Rookie. Web Finals. | Bursts in after a rock-solid season with 12 top 25s before going 0-for-4 during the Finals. Finished 10th in the all-around. Only one TOUR start (2011 U.S. Open). Calculated flier. |
| Brady Schnell | 33 | -- | Rookie. Web Finals. | Intriguing late bloomer. Maturity to achieve a TOUR card at his age suggests that he's cherish and maximize every opportunity. Think Ryan Blaum, but a much better putter (second on the Web). |
| Bud Cauley | 28 | 900K | Top 125. | Fully exempt for finishing 124th in FedExCup points, but he's sidelined indefinitely due to injuries suffered in a car crash in early June. Could be a nice piece to a roster with predictable value to support the risk. |
| Ben Martin | 31 | 532K | Minor Medical. | Didn't play after the Travelers in late June due to sore back. Finished 150th in the FedExCup, so he has conditional status lined up, but has seven starts to earn 111.322 FedExCup points. |
| Shawn Stefani | 36 | 523K | Web Finals. | After his emotional success late in 2015-16, he's needed the Finals in each of the last two seasons to regain fully exempt status. And now the Houston Open is off the 2018-19 schedule. |
| David Lingmerth | 31 | 616K | Conditional. | Failed to connect for a top 10 for the first time in his six seasons, so 2018-19 presents as transitional as he regains footing. If anything, the hard break in status could be a good thing. Less pressure now. |
| Jim Furyk | 48 | 660K | Conditional. | Showed at Sedgefield that he still has it what with a walk-off 63 to finish T4. Probably will play more without the duties of the Ryder Cup tugging, but he's tapered into spot-start duty. |
| Roberto Díaz | 31 | 235K | Web Finals. | If his rookie season on the PGA TOUR wore on him, that eroded at the Finals where he recorded a top 25 in all four events. Sets up as a classic momentum investment right out of the gate. |
| Nate Lashley | 35 | 296K | Minor Medical. | Given eight starts to earn 209.747 FedExCup points. Needs 98.425 points for conditional status. Missed five weeks late in the season for knee surgery but returned with some form. Worth a flier. |
| Alex Prugh | 34 | -- | Web Finals. | The veteran of 113 PGA TOUR starts as a pro is back after two years back on the Web. As a Washington state native, focus on usage on the West Coast Swing where he's had success before. |
| David Hearn | 39 | 622K | Conditional. | One of the forgotten victims of the anchoring ban, he set eight-year lows in starts (21) and cuts made (11), but landed with the same status. Presents deeper value late in the season. |
| Ben Crane | 42 | 620K | Conditional. | Opens at the bottom of his category, which is saying something given he played out of the same last season and made only 21 starts. He's cracked the top 145 just once in the last four. |
| Wes Roach | 29 | -- | Web Finals. | Finished outside the top 150 in the FedExCup in his previous two twirls with a TOUR card (2013-14, 2015-16). Now coming off a strong Web campaign that featured six top 10s. Worth a longer look. |
| Robert Garrigus | 40 | 702K | Conditional. | This is his first time saddled with this status, so he should snare a handful of sponsor exemptions as a former winner on the PGA TOUR. Can't bite at that price tag, though. |
| John Chin | 31 | -- | Rookie. Web Finals. | The lefty took a few years after leaving UC-Irvine to find some traction, but the wait should benefit his focus, particularly at his age. One of the better tee-to-green talents of his class. |
| Kyle Jones | 25 | -- | Rookie. Web Finals. | Late surge during the regular season yielded a pair of runner-up finishes. Strong ball-striker who sacrifices distance. Only PGA TOUR start was at the 2015 U.S. Open as an amateur. |
| Camilo Villegas | 36 | 229K | Major Medical. | Stepped aside in early April due to soreness in his right shoulder, so he'll have 13 starts to earn 287.683 FedExCup points. He's remained competitive on his bike and his first child is due any day. |
| Smylie Kaufman | 26 | 201K* | Minor Medical. | Rested his left elbow and wrist after withdrawing during Greenbrier. Has five starts to collect 303.758 FedExCup points and 192.436 points for conditional status. A tall task. |
| Aaron Baddeley | 37 | 725K | Conditional. | Just when he seems to be gaining steam, he slows down. Piled 27 starts with the same status in 2017-18 and still just missed. Five kids at home, all under the age of 10. |
| Padraig Harrington | 47 | 93K* | Career earnings exemption (top 50). | It'd hard for him not to exceed his 2017-18 earnings, so consider him late in salary circles. He's still a random threat at times. |
| Cameron Tringale | 31 | 179K* | Web Finals. | Coming off easily his worst of nine seasons on the PGA TOUR, but he's practically free in salary games and he'll play regularly. Perfect for a last-round shout in standard drafts, too. |
| Roger Sloan | 31 | 26K* | Web Finals. | First qualified with one top 10 (a playoff win) on the 2014 Web, the Canadian was a cautionary tale as a 2014-15 TOUR rookie (200th in FedExCup). Good putter but overall experience is more valuable. |
| Martin Piller | 32 | 847K | Conditional. | Victim of finishing 126th in the FedExCup. With six career wins on the Web.com Tour, it wouldn't be surprising to see him stay there in 2019 after a little moonlighting. |
| Shane Lowry | 31 | 696K | Conditional. | Not dissimilar to Hiroshi Iwata who had the same status and made only 10 starts in 2016-17, Lowry is a trap for full-season investors. If he doesn't commit as often as possible, that's your cue. |
| J.J. Henry | 43 | 482K | 300 career cuts made. | He's the first to receive it. It's available once in a career. The three-time winner is a likable veteran who can still go get ya a top 25 once every five starts. Fractional for DFSers. |
| Graeme McDowell | 39 | 581K | Conditional. | Clearly slowing down with only one top 10 in the last two seasons. Passed on the Web Finals. Gets to "defend" his 2010 U.S. Open title at Pebble Beach next summer, though. |
| Cody Gribble | 28 | 302K* | Multi-year. | Unlike others who are fully exempt this season via a win in 2016-17 (his win occurred at the Sanderson Farms early that season), he's been ice cold almost ever since. Zero top 25s in his last 47 starts. |
| Peter Malnati | 31 | 420K | Web Finals. | No top 10s and only three top 25s in his last two seasons during which he's failed to finish inside the top 160 in FedExCup points. Save for short tracks where his touch gives him a chance. |
