Qualifiers for all 2025 Signature Events, THE PLAYERS and majors
4 Min Read
Just when you thought that the headline on Sunday would be dedicated to the DP World Tour’s season conclusion in Dubai, Rafael Campos came along to bump the projected lede.
In the span of seven days, the 36-year-old from Puerto Rico became a first-time father and a first-time winner on the PGA TOUR. Opinions vary but it doesn’t get any better than that. On cue, he cited immediately after his win and in between deep breaths and wiping tears from his eyes that it was the best week of his life. Of course it was.
Campos parlayed a share of the 54-hole lead at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship into a three-stroke win at Port Royal Golf Club. It yields exemptions into THE PLAYERS Championship, the Masters and the PGA Championship in 2025, premier events for which he had never qualified until Sunday.
Jumping 67 spots to 80th in the FedExCup, Campos now is 285.407 points outside the top 60 entering The RSM Classic, so he needs no worse than a solo second (worth 300 points) to have a chance at that bubble. When it ends, Nos. 51-60 will gain entry into the second and third Signature Events. Campos already is exempt into the first, however, as his victory nets a tee time at Kapalua for The Sentry that launches the new season.
As alluded to above, earlier on Sunday the DP World Tour Championship finalized the 2024 Race to Dubai standings. An exemption into THE PLAYERS awaited the top finisher among those eligible for a PGA TOUR card in 2025. Rory McIlroy won the tournament and finished No. 1 in the R2D, so Rasmus Højgaard is the recipient. The Dane placed second in both the tournament and the R2D.
The top 10 among the eligible for a PGA TOUR card have qualified for fully exempt status in 2025. The class ranges down to Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin at 18th.
Additionally, all inside the top 30 in the R2D are exempt into The Open Championship at Royal Portrush next July. Of them, 22 hadn’t previously qualified. They are listed below in Recent Additions.
The next big batch of qualifiers will be determined next week when the results of The RSM Classic are official. All inside the top 125 of the FedExCup will earn a PGA TOUR card and an exemption into THE PLAYERS.
UPDATE (Nov. 21): Jacob Skov Olesen turned professional to compete in this week’s BMW Australian PGA Championship that launches the new season on the DP World Tour. As a result, he has forfeited exemptions into the 2025 editions of the Masters and the U.S. Open as the winner of The Amateur Championship earlier this year.
The 25-year-old from Denmark earned a DP World Tour card recently at its qualifying school. He previously secured status on the Challenge Tour via the Global Amateur Pathway.
Having gained entry into The Open Championship this past summer via his title at The Amateur Championship, Olesen finished T60 at Royal Troon.
NOTE: Until all methods of entry are released by the governing bodies, traditional criteria are used to determine qualifiers. Refer to remaining qualifying criteria at the bottom of the page for details.
