In the opening round of the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Rory McIlroy took an unplayable lie at the par-5 seventh hole after his tee shot was under a tree. After taking a drop, McIlroy proceeded to make a bogey six. After the round, It was found that McIlroy took a club length to the side of the line to the flagstick, and he was assessed a two-stroke penalty, giving him a triple-bogey eight.
