His family moved to South Africa when he was two, and that's where he started playing golf. His dad and older brother went out to the course in the evenings, and he would tag along with them with a putter his dad cut down for him.

Best golf memory as a fan was watching Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player hit the honorary tee shots at the Masters the first year the tournament invited Player to join Nicklaus and Palmer. There is footage of him in the background with a wide smile on his face.

Is a vocal and supportive of the push for racial equality and justice. Currently a member of the Diversity and Leadership Committee at Michigan State University, which strives to inform students about social injustices and inequalities happening throughout the world and within the campus. Pushes to enact change to policies that create environments to eliminate inequality.

Earliest golf memory was a US Kids event held at Forest Akers East when he was seven . Was tied with a rival going into the last two holes and hit his approach shot over the green to a back pin on No. 8. His dad was caddying and tried to tell him he just needed to get up and down, but all he could think about was chipping it in. While his rival chipped to a few feet of the last par-3 then tapped in for par, he chipped in for birdie to win by one shot.
