As the month of August nears its close, PGA TOUR Champions heads to Grand Blanc, Michigan, for The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren. Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club will host the event for the seventh time. Four of the top five in the Charles Schwab Cup standings will tee it up this week, including No. 1 Ernie Els, No. 2 Stephen Ames, No. 4 Richard Green and No. 5 K.J. Choi. Els and Ames share the lead for most wins by a player this season on PGA TOUR Champions with three. Els is one of five World Golf Hall of Fame members in the field, along with Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Bernhard Langer and Mark O’Meara. Other notables in the field include Stewart Cink, 2020 champion Jim Furyk and Justin Leonard.
In the 2023 Ally Challenge, Vijay Singh clinched his first win of the season with a stellar 14-under performance. The Fijian golfer secured a narrow one-stroke victory over Jeff Maggert with a final-round 68 that included six birdies. Both Paul Goydos and Jeff Maggert held the lead at various points during the final round, while Brett Quigley made a dramatic surge with six birdies on the front nine.
