Kaulig Companies Championship: How to watch, storylines and more
1 Min Read
PGA TOUR Champions resumes Thursday with the 41st Kaulig Companies Championship at the historic Firestone CC in Akron, Ohio.
The Kaulig Companies Championship features a stellar field of 78 golfers. Vijay Singh, a 31-time PGA TOUR winner, leads a field that includes Jim Furyk (16 TOUR wins), Ernie Els (15 TOUR wins), Steve Stricker (13 TOUR wins) and Justin Leonard (12 TOUR wins). The event also includes current Charles Schwab Cup contenders. Stephen Ames, this season's leader, will compete alongside last season's champion Stricker and runner-up Steven Alker.
In last year's Kaulig Companies Championship at Firestone CC, Steve Stricker emerged victorious, clinching his fifth win of the season with an impressive 11-under par performance. Stricker's journey to the top was eventful, starting strong with a 5-under 65 in the first round, stumbling with a 3-over 73 in the second, but rebounding with another 65 in the third round to claim a share of the lead heading into the final day. Despite a strong effort from David Toms, who fired a 5-under 65 in the final round including a 5-under on the back nine, Stricker's steady 4-under 66 was enough to secure a three-stroke victory. Stricker (2021, '23) and Jerry Kelly (2020, '22) have split the last four editions of this event.
The winner of the Kaulig Companies Championship receives an exemption into THE PLAYERS Championship on the PGA TOUR.
