Regions Tradition: How to watch, storylines to follow and more
1 Min Read
This week, PGA TOUR Champions is in Birmingham, Alabama, for the Regions Tradition, the first of five senior major championships during the 2024 season.
The Champions Tour returns to Greystone Golf & Country Club for an eighth consecutive season where, should history serve as any indication, all signs point to Steve Stricker being a major contender once again this year. Not only has Stricker won this event three times, including the last two, but all three victories were by a margin of six strokes. Last year’s 23-under 265 supplanted the tournament’s low 72-hole score of 21-under 267 since moving to Greystone Golf & Country Club in 2016. Incidentally, that previous record Stricker replaced was the one he set in 2022.
This year's edition will feature 14 of the last 15 champions of the Regions Tradition, with notables including Stricker, Alex Cejka, Miguel Angel Jiménez, Tom Lehman, Fred Funk and Bernhard Langer, who will be playing his second event after a miraculously speedy recovery from an Achilles tear.
This week's event will be contested over 72 holes compared to the typical 54-hole format on PGA TOUR Champions.
