    Things to know

    • The top-50 professionals (and ties) advance to Sunday’s final round at Pebble Beach.
      • With 15 birdies and one bogey through 36 holes, 2016 PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee champion Paul Broadhurst claims the largest 36-hole lead on PGA TOUR Champions in four years.
    • World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh positions himself for a sixth win on PGA TOUR Champions and second in as many seasons.
    • In his final event before retiring, 5-time AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner and World Golf Hall of Fame member Mark O’Meara birdied two of his last five holes at Pebble Beach to end his professional career with a 1-over 73; 284 PGA TOUR Champions starts include 17 at the PURE Insurance Championship, while 674 PGA TOUR starts featured 26 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

    Paul Broadhurst (First/-14)

    • In his bid for a second PURE Insurance Championship crown, the 2016 champion bettered an opening-round 66 at Spyglass Hill with a bogey-free 8-under 64 at Pebble Beach to step out to a 5-shot-lead at 14-under 130.
    • In relation to par, the 64 marks his lowest score since opening with an 8-under 63 at the 2024 Hoag Classic (T15).
    • His 5-shot lead is the largest after two rounds on PGA TOUR Champions since Kevin Sutherland led by the same amount at the 2020 Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
    • Is 0-for-3 when attempting to convert a 36-hole lead/co-lead into victory on PGA TOUR Champions in 54-hole events (was declared the winner of the 2024 Invited Celebrity Classic by virtue of his 36-hole lead when the final round was canceled due to inclement weather)
    • Ninth start in the event; in addition to the 2016 victory in his first start, also finished top five in 2019 (third)
    • Seeks a second win of the season (Invited Celebrity Classic) and seventh overall on PGA TOUR Champions
    • Most recent of four top-5 finishes this season: third/The Senior Open Championship in late July
    • Claimed one top-10 finish in only 17 PGA TOUR starts (1991 B.C. Open/T9)

    Miscellaneous notes

    • Coming off a T7 in his ninth start in the PURE Insurance Championship last year, World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh birdied two of his last three holes at Spyglass Hill en route to a 4-under 68, moving him to solo-second at 9-under 135; the 2004 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner also has three runner-up finishes in the event to his credit.
    • With birdies on four of his first five holes at Pebble Beach (Nos. 11-14), Doug Barron (T3/-8) matches his low round of the season with a 7-under 65 in his fifth PURE Insurance Championship start; top-15 finishes in each of his last three starts in the event: T14/2020, T7/2021 and T12/2022; the highlight of five top-10 finishes this season was his third career win on PGA TOUR Champions at the Regions Tradition.
    • Seeking a seventh win on PGA TOUR Champions and first in seven years, 18-hole co-leader Paul Goydos used a 1-under 71 at Spyglass Hill to remain within reach of his first top-10 showing in his 11th start in the event
    • In his bid for a fourth top-5 finish in as many PURE Insurance Championship starts, 18-hole co-leader Steven Alker sits T5 at 7-under 137 after an even-par 72 at Pebble Beach in round two.

    First Tee Participants

    • The PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee includes 80 First Tee members from 48 U.S. chapters who are paired with, and mentored by, PGA TOUR Champions players and amateurs from the business world. To be selected, juniors were measured in both golf proficiency and life skills knowledge.
    • The top 24 First Tee Juniors (12 male and 12 female) after 36 holes advance to the final round at Pebble Beach; the top junior male and female will be crowned after the final round.
    • Taishu Araki (PB), who is paired with tournament leader Paul Broadhurst, leads his division at -15, while 18-hole leader Gianna Singh (SH), partnered with World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh (second) remains atop the girls’ leaderboard at 15-under.
