Leaderboard Probabilities

Aug. 9, 2023 - A brand new feature to the PGA TOUR leaderboard now allows fans to track the probability for each player in the field to win, finish in the top 10 and make the cut. This exciting enhancement has been made possible by the endless supply of data from ShotLink powered by CDW and the computing power of Amazon Web Services (AWS). The PGA TOUR’s Data Science and Technology Solutions team crafted an algorithm that calculates the probability percentages. Simulated player performance accounts for a player’s hole-level statistics, weighted by most recent events played and current event’s course history.

The Probability leaderboard is available during most tournaments as an additional leaderboard view on PGATOUR.com and a landscape leaderboard view on the PGA TOUR app.

This feature allows fans to gain a deeper understanding of a player’s likelihood to win, finish in the top 10 and make the cut during a tournament. Watch as a player’s percentage increases or decreases with the updates in real time as a player progresses through the tournament.
