Korn Ferry Tour competitive updates heading into 2025 season
2 Min Read
There’s a new threshold for the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour season, and the race for PGA TOUR cards will bring heightened drama across the 26-event campaign.
The top 20 players on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List will earn 2026 PGA TOUR membership, with the season-long standings finalized after the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance in mid-October. This update was approved by the PGA TOUR Policy Board last fall, with additional updates to the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour competitive structure relayed in a memo to Korn Ferry Tour players.
For the previous two seasons (2023 and 2024), the top 30 finishers on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List earned PGA TOUR membership. This change corresponds with the PGA TOUR’s reduction from 125 to 100 exempt cards via the FedExCup Fall standings, and it will offer Korn Ferry Tour graduates expanded access to PGA TOUR Full-Field Events.
The 2025 Korn Ferry Tour schedule is comprised of 26 events, concluding with the four Korn Ferry Tour Finals events that feature elevated points, purses and progressive field reductions. The top 156 players will qualify for the Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation, with progressive cuts to 144 players (Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship), 120 players (Compliance Solutions Championship) and 75 players (Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance).
The top 75 players on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List will retain fully exempt Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2026, and Nos. 76-100 will retain conditional membership at minimum, with the chance to improve their status via PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry. These numbers are unchanged from previous seasons.
Additionally, the top 10 finishers on the 2025 PGA TOUR University Ranking will now earn exempt Korn Ferry Tour membership for the remainder of the season. Previously, the top five on the PGA TOUR University Ranking earned exempt membership and Nos. 6-10 earned conditional membership. Other updates announced Thursday include:
- The 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties will now include both professionals and amateurs, aligned with the PGA TOUR’s cut policy. Cut lines on the Korn Ferry Tour previously consisted of the top 65 professionals and ties; amateurs were not included in this number.
- With the Korn Ferry Tour idle during the 2025 U.S. Open, Korn Ferry Tour players will not receive Korn Ferry Tour points for their finishes at the 2025 U.S. Open.
- The 2025 LECOM Suncoast Classic will be played April 16-19, featuring a Wednesday start and Saturday finish. This event was previously contested Thursday-Sunday.
