Astara Chile Classic presented by Scotiabank: Things to know, tournament facts and more
    Written by Staff @KornFerryTour

The Korn Ferry Tour concludes its international events this week with the Astara Chile Classic presented by Scotiabank from scenic Santiago, Chile.

Here's what you need to know about this event:

    1. Winner's pedigree

The Astara Chile Classic has featured some notable names in the winner's circle through its six editions on the Korn Ferry Tour. PGA TOUR winners Adam Hadwin (2013) and Kevin Kisner (2014) have both taken home the trophy, with two-time major champion Justin Thomas notching a T12 in 2014. Last year, Ben Kohles took the win here on his way to finishing No. 1 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List and earning his PGA TOUR card. As history shows, a win at the Astara Chile Classic is often the first of many.

    2. Return to the Prince

The Prince of Wales Country Club will host the Astara Chile Classic for the fifth time, with rich history running its roots through the course. Established in 1925, the course was named after then Prince of Wales Edward VIII who established the club while in the South American nation. Edward VIII would go on to become the King of England, with the club becoming one of the premier South American golf institutions over the next century.

    3. A field with flavor

Of the 156 players in the field in Chile, there will be six Chileans: Agustin Errazuriz, Gabriel Moran-Birke, Toto Gana, Matias Dominguez, Felipe Aguilar and Mr. 57 himself Cristobal Del Solar. Joining them will be all five winners on the Korn Ferry Tour thus far this season: Jeremy Paul, Aldrich Potgieter, Isaiah Salinda, Kevin Velo and last week’s winner at the 117 Visa Argentina Open Mason Andersen.

    What’s at stake?

The winner will receive 500 points counting towards the Korn Ferry Tour Points List and $180,000 of the $1 million purse up for grabs.
