OVERVIEW
Established in 2007, the FedExCup is a season-long points competition offering $100 million in Bonus Money and culminating with the FedExCup Playoffs in August. Players vie to become the FedExCup champion, which distinguishes the one player who not only performs well during the FedExCup Regular Season, but also excels through the pressure of the FedExCup Playoffs. Players to hoist the FedExCup trophy include Tiger Woods (2007 and 2009), Vijay Singh (2008), Jim Furyk (2010), Bill Haas (2011), Brandt Snedeker (2012), Henrik Stenson (2013), Billy Horschel (2014), Jordan Spieth (2015), Rory McIlroy (2016, 2019 and 2022), Justin Thomas (2017), Justin Rose (2018), Dustin Johnson (2020), Patrick Cantlay (2021), Viktor Hovland (2023) and Scottie Scheffler (2024).
FEDEXCUP REGULAR SEASON
Contested from January to August, the 2025 FedExCup Regular Season features 36 official FedExCup events, including THE PLAYERS Championship, major championships, Signature Events, Full-Field Events and Additional Events. TOUR members earn FedExCup points based on their finish at each tournament, with an emphasis placed on wins and high finishes. FedExCup points distribution maintains the value of Full-Field Events, further incentivizes top performers to participate in Signature Events and adds more weight to the points distributed to the top-10 finishers in the strongest fields. There are a total of 15 events that award 700 or more FedExCup points to the winner: THE PLAYERS Championship and majors (five), FedExCup Playoffs events (two) and Signature Events (eight). Points are distributed to those in tying positions using the same method currently used to distribute prize money when there is a tie. That is, the total points for each tying position will be averaged and that average will be distributed to each player in the tying position.
- 750 points to winners of THE PLAYERS Championship and majors
- 700 points to winners of Signature Events
- 500 points to winners of Full-Field Events (the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a two-man team event, awards 400 points to each player on the first-place team)
- 300 points to winners of Additional Events
- 2,000 points to winners of the first two FedExCup Playoffs events
FEDEXCUP PLAYOFFS
At the conclusion of the Regular Season (following the Wyndham Championship), the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings are eligible to play in the FedExCup Playoffs, a series of three events (prior to 2019, the FedExCup Playoffs included four events). Points earned during the FedExCup Regular Season carry over to the first two Playoffs events.
Players compete in the FedExCup Playoffs for their share of the $100 million total in Bonus Money, with the FedExCup Champion taking home $25 million.
The FedExCup Playoffs feature a progressive cut, with fields of 70 for the FedEx St. Jude Championship (TPC Southwind, Memphis, Tennessee), 50 for the BMW Championship (Caves Valley Golf Club, Owings Mills, Maryland) and 30 for the TOUR Championship (East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta, Georgia), where the FedExCup champion will be determined. In the event an eligible player is unable or chooses not to play, the field will be shortened and no alternates will be added.
There are no cuts in FedExCup Playoffs events. The first two Playoffs events award 2,000 points to the winner (quadruple points of Regular Season events), while the Playoffs Finale, the TOUR Championship, features a strokes-based system (FedExCup Starting Strokes) instituted for the first time in 2019.
TOUR Championship and FedExCup Starting Strokes
At the TOUR Championship, the player with the lowest stroke total over 72 holes when combined with his FedExCup Starting Strokes will be crowned the FedExCup champion, be credited with an official victory at the TOUR Championship, earn a bonus of $25 million and a five-year PGA TOUR exemption.

In the event there are tied players at any position going into the TOUR Championship, tied players will be awarded the same number of Starting Strokes for round one. For example, if two players are tied for second position, both players would start at 8-under and the No. 4 player would start at 6-under. Any professional that is qualified for the TOUR Championship but unable to participate will not be awarded Starting Strokes and Starting Stroke positions for the remaining players will not be reallocated. Any professional who is unable to play, is disqualified or withdraws for any reason will finish in last position for the TOUR Championship.
Other notes
FedExCup points are distributed to players earning official money. Only players who are PGA TOUR members or become members during the season will be listed on the FedExCup standings. Special Temporary Members and non-members who make the cut in PGA TOUR events do not appear on the FedExCup standings, but are tracked in the non-member FedExCup standings. Amateurs are not eligible to earn FedExCup points.
Points won by non-members and Special Temporary Members who subsequently become PGA TOUR members during the season are counted in the FedExCup standings, along with any FedExCup points earned as a non-member (excluding those won as a non-member at the Additional Events played the same week as the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open Championship).
FEDEXCUP FALL
Beginning in September, the FedExCup Fall features seven tournaments to finalize the top 100 and additional playing opportunities for the following FedExCup season.
All players ranked No. 51 and beyond carry their FedExCup points over from the Regular Season and first Playoffs event (FedEx St. Jude Championship) and continue to accumulate FedExCup points through the FedExCup Fall to finalize eligibility for the 2025 season.
Nos. 51-60 in the FedExCup standings through the FedExCup Fall qualify for two Signature Events the following season (the first two played after The Sentry) via the Aon Next 10.
