Jeremy Gandon carded a 4-under 68 and leads by two after 36 holes at the Bupa Championship at Tulum. First-round leader Davis Shore is in solo second at 6-under after an even-par 72 Friday. Two players are tied for third at 5-under entering the third round Saturday at PGA Riviera Maya.
In three starts at PGA Riviera Maya, Gandon has registered two top-five finishes. The only French player in the field this week earned the first top-10 of his professional career after finishing in solo third at the 2021 Bupa Tour Championship. After a T36 finish in 2022, Gandon finished T2 in 2023, losing in a three-man playoff, for his best finish as a pro.
Entering the week, Gandon was one of seven players in the field who had played 12 rounds or more at PGA Riviera Maya. His back-to-back rounds of 68 match his low score at this course (2023 final round).
Gandon did not miss a cut on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica in 2023 and only finished outside of the top 20 once en route to finishing 17th in the Totalplay Cup. Gandon also made seven starts on the Korn Ferry Tour, with his best finish being T6 at the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank.
First-round play was suspended at 6:55 p.m. CT due to darkness with 13 players yet to complete their round; the second round will resume at 7:15 a.m. Saturday. The field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties, and third-round tee times will be approximately 9-11 a.m. off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees.
