    Ryan McCormick led the four Monday qualifiers with what he called a stress-free 66, but Chip McDaniel had the wildest ride. The former University of Kentucky standout shot 77 to finish 78th in his first U.S. Open at Pebble Beach on Sunday; took the red-eye across the country to Boston; drove an hour and a half to the course, scarfing a quick breakfast on the way; shot 67; and survived a 9-for-3 sudden-death playoff to make the Travelers field.
