    Written by Staff

Tournament officials announced today that 12-time PGA TOUR winner Jason Day officially committed to compete in the 3M Open when the world’s top golfers gather at TPC Twin Cities July 1-7, 2019.

Day’s commitment marks the third player currently among the top 51 in the FedExCup standings scheduled to play as the event transitions from a PGA TOUR Champions tournament to the PGA TOUR schedule for the next seven years. Earlier, the 3M Open received pledges from Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters Tournament winner.

Day, a 12-time winner on the PGA TOUR, won the 2015 PGA Championship. The Australian won five times that season and added three more wins in 2016, including THE PLAYERS Championship. In 2018, he had a pair of victories and this year Day has accumulated three top-5 finishes in six starts.

“Jason is a tremendous and energetic competitor, said Peter Mele, Tournament Director of the 3M Open. “More importantly, he is a delight to be around. The fans are going to enjoy his energy and charisma.”

Other early player commitments previously announced by the tournament, include Koreans Si Woo Kim, winner of the 2015 THE PLAYERS Championship and eight-time TOUR winner K.J. Choi.

The 156 players competing in the 3M Open have until 5:00 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, June 28 to officially commit to the tournament and can withdraw at any time.

Fans can find ticket and hospitality options on the tournament’s website www.3MOpen.com.
