OAKMONT, Pa. -- There's a familiar name at the top of the leaderboard of the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club.
Dustin Johnson, who three-putted on the last hole to lose the Open last year at Chambers Bay, completed a marathon 36 holes of golf Friday at 4-under par. That's good enough to move him into a tie with first-round leader Andrew Landry.
The big difference is Johnson is halfway through his championship, while Landry still has three rounds to go.
The other difference is Johnson is battle-tested even though he has come up short. Landry is a qualifier who is ranked 624th in the world. Landry hit only one shot Friday, finishing his opening round with a 10-footer for birdie to get him to 4 under.

Johnson holed out just after play was suspended for darkness at 8:42 p.m. By finishing, he gave himself the advantage of not having to come out early in the morning to finish his second round.
Sergio Garcia, who was playing with Johnson, made a long putt across the green on his final hole for an unlikely par out of the deep rough that left him at 2-under, two shots back.
Lee Westwood is one shot back of the leaders but, like Landry, will have to play two rounds on Saturday.
Heavy rain Thursday disrupted play, forcing officials to have to play catch up. With no rain forecast for the weekend, they are confident players will be able to finish four rounds by Sunday evening.
