See who gained, improved status via 2024 PGA TOUR Americas

Third-year pro Eddy Lai authored Sunday a moment heard 'round the golf world, playing a chip shot from thick rough behind the 11th green at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North) that landed in the rough's second cut, released onto the fringe and then the green, trickling ever-so-slightly toward the hole and dropping for an unlikely birdie. Lai watched the ball's trajectory from a crouching position, hands on hips, almost willing it into the cup.

As the final round played out at the Fortinet Cup Championship, PGA TOUR Americas' inaugural season finale, the shot had meaning beyond the highlight reel. It moved Lai back to 3-over for the final round, and he played his last seven in 1-under for a T23 finish. That moved him from No. 82 to No. 76 on the season-ending Fortinet Cup Standings and allowed him to keep his job, as the top 80 secured exempt status for the 2025 Latin America Swing (Segment I) on PGA TOUR Americas. (If he had shot 6-over or worse Sunday, he would have finished outside the top 80, and he was trending that way until the 11th-hole heroics.)

The top 10 finishers on the season-ending Fortinet Cup secured 2025 Korn Ferry Tour membership, led by No. 1 John Keefer, the recent Baylor grad who notched five top-two finishes in just 10 starts to ascend into the top spot. The top 10 also advance directly to PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry's Final Stage, after which the top five finishers and ties will earn 2025 PGA TOUR membership.

The top three on the season-long standings (John Keefer, Frederik Kjettrup and Matthew Anderson) also earned spots in the 2025 RBC Canadian Open, which will be contested at Fortinet Cup Championship host venue TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North).

Three players moved inside the top 10 at the Fortinet Cup Championship; winner Will Cannon moved from No. 60 to No. 6, runner-up Sandy Scott moved from No. 23 to No. 8, and Ian Holt jumped one crucial spot (No. 11 to No. 10) with a tie for 11th at TPC Toronto.

In addition to the thresholds at Nos. 10 and 80 on the season-long Fortinet Cup, the number 25 also carried ample meaning as the Fortinet Cup Championship played out. Nos. 11-25 on the final Fortinet Cup standings earned direct access to PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry's Second Stage, removing the variable of First Stage in pursuit of PGA TOUR or Korn Ferry Tour membership.

First-year pro Bryce Lewis finished T15 at the Fortinet Cup Championship to move from No. 26 to No. 25; he narrowly bumped out Chris Crawford, who missed the cut at the season finale and fell from No. 17 to No. 26. A pair of T3 finishers also moved inside the top 25 at the Fortinet Cup Championship, with Michael Brennan moving from No. 29 to No. 18 and Luke Long moving from No. 35 to No. 21. (The Fortinet Cup Championship featured elevated points, with 600 points to the winner compared to 500 for a standard event.)

In addition to Lai, Martin Contini (solo sixth, No. 91 to No. 64) and Chris Crisologo (T8, No. 98 to No. 75) moved inside the top 80 at the Fortinet Cup Championship.

All 2024 PGA TOUR Americas members will advance directly to First Stage at minimum, without needing to compete at Q-School's pre-qualifying stage.
