Fortinet Cup, Week 10: Ryan Burnett breaks inside top 10 with first pro win in Bromont
4 Min Read
With a two-shot win secured by a final-round 62 at the Bromont Open presented by Desjardins, Ryan Burnett became the latest addition to the Fortinet Cup top 10. The 500 points he collected at Golf Château-Bromont allowed him to charge into the eighth spot with six events left to play this PGA TOUR Americas season.
Frederik Kjettrup remains atop the standings, but his lead has been cut to only six points over Matthew Anderson, who has gotten back on track with consecutive top-12 finishes in Fredericton and Bromont.
The following is a look at the Fortinet Cup’s top 10 players and the ones who made the most significant moves in week 10 of the 16-week season:
1. Frederik Kjettrup, Denmark
- Fortinet Cup Points: 1,011
- Last week’s rank: 1st
- Best finish this season: Won The Beachlands Victoria Open presented by Times Colonist and the ATB Classic
The man who started the North America Swing on fire, recording back-to-back wins in Victoria and Edmonton has slowed his pace down the past two weeks. After a tie for 49th at the Explore NB Open and a solo 69th finish in Bromont, the 133-point lead he built after his second win is now down to only six.
2. Matthew Anderson, Canada
- Fortinet Cup Points: 1,005
- Last week’s rank: 2nd
- Best finish this season: Won the ECP Brazil Open
Carding a bogey-free 65 to close out the week in Bromont in a tie for 12th, the 24-year-old from Mississauga came only one stroke short of claiming back the Fortinet Cup lead. He trails Frederik Kjettrup by only six points after being 133 points behind while missing two cuts in a row just two weeks ago.
3. Clay Feagler, United States
- Fortinet Cup Points: 866
- Last week’s rank: 3rd
- Best finish this season: Won the Bupa Championship at Tulum
After recording two top-4 finishes in his previous three starts, he missed only his second cut of the season in Bromont.
4. Harry Hillier, New Zealand
- Fortinet Cup Points: 757
- Last week’s rank: 4th
- Best finish this season: Won the Inter Rapidísimo Golf Championship
Following a streak of four top-25 finishes that included a tie for third in Ecuador and a wire-to-wire win in Colombia, the 25-year-old from Te Puke, New Zealand, has been a bit off. He shot 67-70 in Bromont to miss the cut by one and has now missed two cuts in his last three starts. He ranks second on Tour in total birdies, only three behind Matthew Anderson who leads with 146.
5. Samuel Anderson, United States
- Fortinet Cup Points: 747
- Last week’s rank: 5th
- Best finish this season: Solo second at the Diners Club Perú Open
Claiming his fifth top-10 of the season with a tie for eighth at Golf Château-Bromont, he is now the player with the most top-10s on PGA TOUR Americas.
6. John Keefer, United States
- Fortinet Cup Points: 745
- Last week’s rank: 7th
- Best finish this season: Solo second at the Explore NB Open
He flirted with the possibility of moving to the top of the Fortinet Cup with a 63-65 start that had him leading by three. A 69-67 weekend left him six shots behind, in a tie for sixth for his fourth top 10 in as many starts. He advanced from seventh to sixth in the standings and is only two points outside the top 5. At 65.27 strokes, his scoring average is the best on Tour.
7. José de Jesús Rodríguez, Mexico
- Fortinet Cup Points: 661
- Last week’s rank: 6th
- Best finish this season: Won the Totalplay Championship at Tulum
Coming off a strong Latin America Swing performance, Rodríguez has not been able to find his pace in Canada. After a tie for 61st in Victoria he has missed consecutive cuts in Edmonton and Bromont.
8. Ryan Burnett, United States
- Fortinet Cup Points: 655
- Last week’s rank: 52nd
- Best finish this season: Won the Bromont Open presented by Desjardins
The 24-year-old UNC-Chapel Hill alum shot 64-62 on the weekend to edge out David Pastore and claim his first win in 13 months as a professional. The 500 Fortinet Cup points collected at Golf Château-Bromont allowed him to gain 44 spots in the standings, moving from 52nd to eighth.
9. Conner Godsey, United States
- Fortinet Cup Points: 636
- Last week’s rank: 10th
- Best finish this season: Tied for second at the ECP Brazil Open
This 32-year-old from Alabama finished the Bromont Open in a tie for 21st to extend a streak of consecutive cuts made to eight. In that stretch, he has finished outside the top 25 only once.
10. Stuart Macdonald, Canada
- Fortinet Cup Points: 634
- Last week’s rank: 8th
- Best finish this season: Won the Diners Club Perú Open
This consistent 29-year-old from Vancouver hasn’t been his usual self over his last four starts, making only one cut to slip down from third to 10th in the Fortinet Cup standings. A return to Eagle Creek Golf Club for this week’s Commissionaires Ottawa Open, an event he won last year on PGA TOUR Canada, might be all he needs to get his mojo back.
Who dropped outside the top 10?
11. Thomas Longbella, United States
- Fortinet Cup Points: 628
- Last week’s rank: 9th
- Best finish this season: Won the Kia Open
The wrist injury he suffered at the Explore NB Open in Fredericton, when he withdrew during the second round is keeping him from competing. He was unable to play in Bromont and will not be playing in Ottawa either.

- Fortinet Cup Points: 404
- Last week’s rank: 78th

Tied for the 54-hole lead in Bromont, Pastore came out firing on Sunday. He had two eagles and a birdie on the front nine to grab the solo lead, but only shot 1-under on the back to watch Ryan Burnett move past him with an impressive 62. The runner-up finish earned him 300 Fortinet Cup points to advance 61 spots in the standings.
46. Thomas Hutchison, United States
- Fortinet Cup Points: 210
- Last week’s rank: T162
- Best finish this season: Third at the Bromont Open presented by Desjardins

He had the least number of bogeys in the field with only three and tied for the fifth most birdies with 22. The solo third finish earned him 190 Fortinet Cup points and allowed him to advance 116 spots in the standings after making only one cut in his first three starts of the season.
